Luke 12:13-21.
Luke 12:13-21.
The Rich Fool: Covetness kills.
The insatiable desire/thirst for more. The kind of thirst as after one runs several miles. A thirst that can't be quenched.
Jesus is calling us to guard against the thirst for more and more and more of what the world can offer.
V. 16- the destruction of covetousness. Again and again "my"... In his planning he did not include God. The internal dialog is all in personal pronouns. All our days, all our life, all our possesions are on loan from God and must be used for His glory. Are our possesions a ministry resource for God?
Or do they possess us? Do we have commitment to own a certain thing ( reputation, resume, item...) at any cost?
Christ wants to replace the desire of more with the desire of God.
V.21- the deliverence from covetousness. We must be rich in Christ. Because everything we have is given to us by God. All we have is on loan. Wealth is on the interior. Ex. Zaccheus.
Live a life of faith where you realiE hat all you have and all you are are a gift from God and using and giving it for His glory. Wealth is not what we have it's who we are. We also need to champion charity. Giving to the physical and spiritual needs around us. What we have received by grace we seek to share for Gods glory, for the furthering of His kingdom. Cultivate the "wealth is not what we have it's Who we have" mindset.
